Closed ephemeris. 12 zodiac generic interpretations. No 5-level daśā. Pay-per-min chat upsell.
India's top astrology apps run scripts that haven't been audited in a decade. Wrong ayanāṃśa. Generic interpretations. Pay-per-minute call-centre astrologers. Millions of users — none of them seeing their actual chart. This page is the audit.

Top apps use a Lāhirī ayanāṃśa hardcoded from 1980s data. Drift by 2026 is 15-30 arc-minutes. For births near nakṣatra-pāda boundaries, your assigned nakṣatra is wrong — and so is your daśā chain.
Kaal Ephemeris computes ayanāṃśa from SPICE kernels at each request. Sub-arc-second precision. Same standard NASA uses for Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Your nakṣatra-pāda is exact.
"Mars in 7th makes you Manglik." Same paragraph for everyone with Mars-in-7th, regardless of which sign, which nakṣatra-pāda, which daśā lord, whether it's debilitated, retrograde, combust, or aspecting a benefic. It's a sun-sign reading dressed in Sanskrit.
Your Mars in 7th is read as the specific combination of sign · house · dignity · aspect · daśā activation · transit overlay · yogakāraka status for YOUR chart. 587 distinct interpretations. Yours is one configuration, not a category.
Top apps show mahā-daśā and antar-daśā. The remaining 3 levels — pratyantar, sūkṣma, prāṇa — are never computed. You never see your "what is happening this week" read at day-precision.
The full chain computed from the same source data. Prāṇa-daśā gives you a 1-4 day window with its lord's exact house placement. Your "right now" is named.
The astrologer is incentivised to extend the call. No transcript, no follow-up, no provenance. Many "astrologers" are call-centre operators reading from a script. Average spend per session ₹600–₹2,400.
₹9,999/hr buys 60 minutes with the architect of the math. One question. Derivation-tagged answer. Operational protocol you can hold the engine accountable to. Recorded. PDF. DOI-stamped.
You cannot audit AstroSage's math. You cannot reproduce AstroTalk's reading on your own laptop. If they're wrong, you have no recourse. Wrong reading + wrong remedy = wasted money or worse.
Every reading carries a Zenodo DOI matching the engine version. The full source is on GitHub. The proof harness is on GitHub. The 243-proposition catalog is on GitHub. Cite it. Audit it. Fork it.

Combined revenue of the top-5 above: ~₹500 crore / year. Almost entirely from users who do not know their chart was computed with drifting ayanāṃśa and read with a 12-template script. That market is the gap we close.
